'Doctor Who' Leads BAFTA TV Winners

Cult TV show Doctor Who swept the board and took home three prestigious accolades at this year's BAFTA Television Awards - Britain's answer to the Emmys. The show, which currently stars British actor David Tennant as the timelord, took home Best Drama Series, Best Writing and the Pioneer Audience Award for Best Program of 2005. Meanwhile, Gillian Anderson lost out on the Best Actress award to Bleak House co-star Anna Maxwell Martin, but celebrated when the BBC's Charles Dickens TV adaptation was awarded Best Drama Serial. Sharon Osbourne and Simon Cowell's talent show The X Factor swept away competition from Friday Night With Jonathan Ross to win Best Entertainment Program. The British version of hit TV show The Apprentice saw Sir Alan Sugar take home the Best Feature Award, while celebrity chef Jamie Oliver was honored for his factual series Jamie's School Dinners, which saw him relentlessly campaign for nutritious children's food. Other winners included London soap Eastenders, and Matt Lucas and David Walliams' hit comedy sketch show Little Britain. Doctor Who star Billie Piper accepted awards for the show saying, "I'm having the time of my life. Doctor Who is the most amazing show to work on."

Billie has been shortlisted for a prestigious Evening Standard theatre award for her first major stage role.
She has been nominated for the best actress prize for her work in the Christopher Hampton play Treats.
The winners will be announced on 27 November at a London ceremony, to be hosted by the actor Richard Wilson.

According to the Sunday People US rappers The Sugar Hill Gang were so impressed by Billie in Secret Diary Of A Call Girl they thought that it was a reality show!
They got hooked on the ITV2 show when they came over to perform at the Sony Walkman bash.
"We don't know if it's a reality showbut it blew us away. We also watched Doctor Who and she is brilliant."
The confused rappers want Billie to be in a video with them, saying "She's wild."

"There’s a lot of sex. Some of it’s comedy sex and some of it’s emotional sex. Women love sex as much as men and that’s what’s never said."

• • •Billie To Return To Doctor Who?

It's been the tabloid's favourite rumour ever since she left the show so it's no surprise that the News Of The World has been reporting that Billie is heading back to Doctor Who for three special episodes to be screened in 2009.
The paper, which was published on Sunday, claims that a BBC source told them: "We are all very excited that Billie is on course to come back. We're very close to getting her to sign for the three-part finale."
This is of course, not an official announcement and it's best to be taken with a rather large pinch of salt, but what has Billie herself got to say on the matter?
She said on her recent appearance on Parkinson:
“I don’t think it will happen any time soon but the door is slightly ajar,” She continued, “It’s such a lovely part but I tried to do it the other day and I couldn’t do it - I can’t do Rose any more!”
“I was having a go the other day, I saw David Tennant the other day in fact, and we were just having a laugh - and yes, Rose wasn’t so good!”
Surely a return would ruin the fabulous finale of Doomsday?
We've a feeling that the show and Billie have both moved on since Rose...
